Director of the Project Management Department
Milrem Robotics began as a small start-up in Estonia in 2013 and has grown into a world-leading developer of robotics and autonomous systems and a systems integrator.
Today, our solutions are in use by customers in 19 countries, with large-scale deployment in Ukraine and operations across seven countries. Our growth has been fast, our ambition is high, and the next phase is about delivering excellence at scale.
As the Director of the Project Management Department, you lead a large, capable team of project and program management professionals and shape how complex defence programs move from strategy to execution, on time, on budget, and to the highest quality standards.
This role sits at the heart of the company. You are a trusted partner to the executive team, turning business strategy and Management Board decisions into clear priorities, execution discipline, and confident delivery across integrated product teams.
Milrem Robotics is a maturing organisation. The foundations are in place. Processes, frameworks, and tools exist. Your role is to embed them, enforce them, and elevate how delivery leadership is practised across the business.
What you’ll be doing:
Lead and strengthen a company-wide project management culture where Project Managers and Program Managers are recognized as accountable delivery leaders.
Bring consistency, discipline, and transparency to delivery through strong governance, reporting, and decision-making rhythms.
Maintain a consolidated portfolio view of all projects and programs, supported by clear executive-level reporting on progress, risks, dependencies, and performance.
Ensure effective resource planning and financial oversight across the delivery portfolio, including assignment of program leadership and monitoring cross-functional budgets.
Build internal program management capability and reduce reliance on external consultants for complex defence programs.
Develop, coach, and inspire a high-performing PMO organisation, fostering ownership, trust, and continuous improvement.
Own and continuously improve company-wide project and program management methodologies, frameworks, and review rhythms to support consistent, high-quality delivery.
What we’re looking for:
You are a senior delivery leader who leads from deep domain expertise and experience.
10+ years of hands-on project and program delivery experience in the defence sector, including responsibility for large-scale, customer-facing defence programs.
Proven experience leading a PMO or program organization of 20+ professionals, including managing through managers.
At least 5 years of leadership experience in an international environment.
Extensive experience leading integrated product teams and delivering complete, complex solutions across engineering, production, and customer stakeholders.
A proven track record of establishing, implementing, and enforcing company-wide project and program management governance, portfolio management, and reporting frameworks.
Demonstrated success in aligning delivery portfolios with business strategy and driving measurable delivery and business outcomes.
Strong ability to communicate complex decisions clearly, cascade strategy effectively, and unify teams behind shared objectives.
You bring structure, clarity, and discipline first, creating a solid framework and ways of working. Within that framework, you enable teams to take ownership, lead with confidence, and continuously improve.
Why Milrem?
A senior leadership role with genuine ownership, authority, and influence over delivery outcomes across the business.
Direct partnership with the executive team and Management Board, with the mandate to build, embed, and lead a strong in-house project and program management capability.
A complex, meaningful challenge operating in an international defence environment, where your experience will be stretched, valued, and respected.
The chance to leave a lasting legacy by developing people, strengthening culture, and setting the standard for delivery excellence at Milrem Robotics.
A competitive compensation package reflecting the seniority, responsibility, and impact of the role.
If you are a defence delivery leader who wants to make a tangible difference and take ownership of how complex programs are delivered, this role offers the scale, challenge, and trust to do just that.
