Milrem Summer Internship - Middleware
Work on the software that connects robotic systems. Gain hands-on experience with C++ and Rust while building tools and protocols used on real robotic vehicles.
Design the future of robotics this summer.
Milrem Robotics is looking for motivated students to join our Summer Internship Programme. This paid internship runs for one month during the summer months from June to August and offers the opportunity to work alongside experienced engineers and specialists on real projects.
This year, we are welcoming interns across several teams, including IT, Autonomy, Middleware, Mobility Core, Emerging Platforms and Production. Depending on the team, the internship will take place in Tallinn or Tartu.
About the Team
The Middleware team develops tools, protocols and frameworks for Milrem’s robotic platforms. Our goal is to make life easier for other teams and external customers by providing reliable libraries and development tools.
Your Internship Project
During the internship, you will work on a focused project that contributes directly to the team’s work.
You will help build a proof of concept for introducing a new interface to THeMIS. This includes:
Interfacing with existing code using ROS2 or C++
Testing newly developed libraries in real use cases
Improving communication protocols by adding missing messages
This internship will give you hands-on experience and real insight into robotics software development.
What You Will Gain
Experience working in a professional engineering environment
Exposure to real robotics development projects
Mentorship from experienced engineers
We are looking for students who:
Are studying Computer Science
Are interested in software design and architecture
Are bored of web development and curious about robotics
Are proactive, curious and eager to learn
Are comfortable working in a team environment
Bonus if you have experience with Rust or C++ (or are interested in learning them), robotics, or game development.
Application
Please send your application by 12 April 2026 at the latest. No late applications will be accepted.
Interviews will take place, preferably in person in Tallinn, during the weeks commencing 20 April and 27 April. Selection for interviews is based on the submitted application.
Spend your summer working on real robotic platforms and contributing to the systems that power them.
