Meet the Milremee – Kelli Sepp our Senior Software Engineer
Next week will be held one of the biggest defence and security exhibitions in the world — DSEI 2025, bringing together governments, armed forces, industry leaders, and innovators. Human-Machine Interface (HMI) plays a key role in how operators interact with advanced defence technologies, ensuring intuitive control and mission effectiveness. So, we decided to give you a small post about the team and one of our Senior Software Engineers.
Kelli has been in Milrem for almost a year, and she is part of the Human-Machine Interface team. Her focus is on the interface side of our autonomous systems. In practice, that means making sure operators can interact with and control autonomous vehicles in a reliable, intuitive way. A big part of her role is shaping the foundations of the system, so we have something solid and scalable to grow on.

For Kelli, Milrem stands out because she gets to work with an awesome team and take on complex challenges that go beyond typical software engineering. She says that robotics brings its own level of complexity - integrating hardware, autonomy, and real-time systems - which means there’s always something new to solve. And it’s especially meaningful to see our work make a real impact at a time when security and defence are so relevant in the world.
Kelli thinks that women have a key role in engineering - diverse teams simply solve problems better. What helps most is visibility, support, and creating an environment where everyone feels welcome. At the same time, she believes gender shouldn’t define how you’re seen - an engineer is an engineer - but because not everyone has had the same experience, it’s still important to make space and show that women belong in this field. In defence especially, where the sector has traditionally been very male dominated, it’s even more important to show that there’s space for women to contribute and lead.

We asked what kind of an impact she’s like to have with her work - she wants her work to make autonomous systems safer and more effective by laying down solid foundations Milrem can grow on, helping create a more diverse and innovative environment, and pushing the industry forward in how we design human-machine experiences.
So, join us at DSEI 2025 held from 9 to 12 September in London! We will be present at stand N10-145 to showcase our impressive range of advanced unmanned systems and integrated solutions.
